It couldn't be easier

Current ad hoc disposal fees are being replaced by a tyre stewardship fee. The tyre stewardship fee will be paid when a tyre is bought, and Tyrewise will take care of it at the end of its life.

You will simply leave it with your registered tyre seller or fitter when you replace it, or at registered public collection points (up to five tyres at a time).

Tyrewise will take care of the rest and your old tyres will get a second life, instead of being wasted. It couldn’t be easier.

What's changing

Read what’s changing on 1 March 2024 and 1 September 2024 about new and end-of-life tyres.

From 1 March 2024

New Tyres

From 1 March a tyre stewardship fee will be charged on all new tyres sold – loose or on a vehicle.

The fee has been set at $6.65 (excl. GST) for a standard passenger tyre but will vary depending on the type of tyre. For example different fees are payable for motorbike tyres vs tractor tyres.

The retailer or garage will tell you what the fee is for the tyres you purchase.

Free tyre collections

Tyrewise will be responsible for managing the free collection of end-of-life tyres from retailers and collection sites.

They will book their collections from registered transporters through the Tyrewise software.

The tyres will be delivered to registered processors and manufacturers to make sure they get a second life as a resource in our circular economy.
