WHAT THEY DO
Rubber Solutions are rubber recycling and manufacturing specialists, operating in New Zealand for over 18 years. As tyre and rubber recycling veterans, they make a variety of products, including mill-ground rubber crumb from recycled tyres.
HOW IT WORKS
Rubber Solutions use a blend of approximately 80% truck and 20% passenger end-of-life tyres sourced in New Zealand, which is mill-ground into rubber crumb. The result is a fine crumb of mostly less than 800 microns (0.8mm).
Currently they recycle around 400 tonnes of tyres annually.
The crumb is used by a variety of other manufacturers in products like adhesives, sealants, floor leveling compounds, and building products, among others. The crumb is used as a substitute for virgin material and is often also used for its superior performance properties, such as improved flexibility and durability.
The crumb also meets specifications for mixing with bitumen for use in roading, which they export to Australia.
“The Tyrewise scheme helps us in a number of ways. Collection of used tyres is now properly controlled, removing the risk of dumping that was a big problem, and now we get to work with other reputable operators in the industry to keep on top of the flow of used tyres.”
Steve Matthews, Rubber Solutions Owner-Director
